Mother Figures in J.M.R. Lenz’s The Soldiers and The Courtyard Master

Abstract

This paper presents some mother figures from Lenz’s “The Soldiers” and “The Courtyard Master”. The mother figures are described frequently as the object of different feelings: love, admiration, devotion, mental or sexual demand, and refusal, or as actions whose arguments fulfill certain social and literary purposes.
