Abstract

This paper focuses on the feminist mechanisms of subverting patriarchal discourse and tries to identify some of them in Angela Carter’s novel, The Passion of New Eve. It specifically refers to the deconstruction of myths, as these stand at the foundation of patriarchal Western culture, and it discusses issues such as gender roles, the manipulative feature of myths, and the part they play in the construction of gender identity.
