Abstract

The paper presents the complex significance of Daniel Defoe’s Robinson Crusoe, providing both an aesthetic and cultural approach. The study proves that Robinson Crusoe, besides its generally acknowledged status as an adventure novel, allows for different interpretations, according to the political and cultural context of its reception.
