The Ages of Italian Decadence

Abstract

Literary Decadentism was born as a reaction to Verism and Romanticism, pointing out the beginning of Modernity in Italian literature. this new literary trend has two stages: the first Decadentism, where the modern man's crisis is just an intiution, and the second Decadentism, when a solution to that is found through a come-back to concrete, to individual, to subjectivity.
