Statistical distribution of some asteroid parameters

Abstract

Probability distributions of several asteroid parameters were obtained by using a Maximum Entropy Method combined with a form of the Simulated Annealing heuristic search algorithm. The parameters of interest were asteroid effective diameter, mass, density, albedo, magnitude, and color indices. The obtained distributions reflect the main asteroid classes in order of occurrence. Moreover, the complex composition and the nature of asteroid surfaces become apparent.
