Abstract

The insect Cameraria ohridella, detected for the first time in Macedonia, has rapidly spread in Europe, including Romania. When the attack attains high levels of intensity the leaves turn reddish and fall prematurely, substantially damaging the landscape aspect. A mechanical control not only by picking up but also by burning the fallen leaves may keep this insect under control. Applying systemic insecticides with a remanence of several months may work out the problem of control.
