Abstract

Whether finished or unfinished, wood changes its colour over time due to oxidation and exposure to light. The present paper refers to the natural weathering of wood veneers under indoor conditions and highlights the results of some preliminary tests performed in order to evaluate the colour changes that occurred on the veneer surface under natural UV light exposure when using four wood species, namely: black alder (Alnus glutinosa), cherry (Prunus avium), birch (Betula pendula) and plane maple (Acer platanoides).
