Aspects Concerning the Musical Form in Passio et Mors Domini Nostri Iesu Christi, by K. Penderecki
Keywords:
musical form, blocks, contrasts, static and dynamic structures, variation, continuum, timbreAbstract
The musical form is built through the alternation, superposition, combination, periodicity and variation of the blocks, distinguished through register, nuances, density, texture and timbre. The recitatives and arias have an evolutionary form, based on the pattern: melodic nucleus, melodic evolution and polyphonical or homophonous choral or instrumental interventions. Penderecki employs the strophic, variational, evolutionary, refrain, bridge forms and also certain combinations between them.Published
