Mathematical Concepts in Aurel Stroe’s Music
Keywords:
fuzzy sets, contemporary music, (non-)Euclidean geometryAbstract
Professor Dinu Ciocan is the first person who found similarities between works of art and fuzzy sets, which are subject to gradual change. In compositional art, Aurel Stroe translates these notions into his music. This perspective is adequate, since mathematical notions are very close to the aesthetics of works of art, which involve a poetic dimension, the ethics of intentional ambiguity and vagueness, features which promote musical interpretation.Downloads
