Abstract

A database, becoming now a virtual library, is developed for describing extensively the choral repertoire of the world through an international network: Musica International. It aims at being as comprehensive and cognitive as possible in the description of presently about 170,000 choral scores of all genres, types of choir, origins, and centuries, accessible in 4 languages through the website www.musicanet.org. This article describes how the database is structured, shows the possibilities and the user-friendliness by giving an example of a search online, and lists additional designed features, such as the favorite piece of the month, the auditorium, and the anniversaries of composers. It describes also the possibilities of direct interactivity with the users, including a Wiki, the upload of multimedia files to enrich the virtual library, and the possibility to manage a local choral library within Musica, by the opening of private fields.
