Abstract

Paparuda is part of the folk customs that anticipate or are part of the crop’s gathering, and is a ritual song for the drought season, as are Scaloianu and Sulul. Paparuda was practiced in all of the country except maybe Bucovina and Maramures, and more often in Muntenia and Dobraogea; today it is hardly known, but it is still sometimes used in the south of the country.
