Abstract

A few appreciations on the chamber opera development along the centuries, the enumeration of some characteristic features of the (sub)genre, and the supporting examples in the XXth century musical work outline its structure nowadays. Conditioned by historical, national, cultural, and financial factors, the chamber opera has been affected by transformations which, in the contemporary musical performance, could convey to the outline of new performance variants where the relations and the inter conditioning of the elements making up the whole are essentially changed.
