Quantitative Graphics Revelations – Charles Joseph Minard
Keywords:
graphs, figurative map, flow chartAbstract
The article approaches a retrospective look on the two graphics created by one of the pioneers in quantitative graphics, Charles Joseph Minard. Minard had many inventions amongst which I can mention: pie charts, the divided circle in cartography etc. His masterpiece is however considered Napoleon’s March on Moscow 1812-1813. This graph, together with its pair, Hannibal’s Campaign in Italy, is the subject of this article, and I intend to present its accuracy in statistical representation.Published
