Abstract

G. Vattimo and R. Rorty outline a faith without precepts and without a metaphysical God, as future of religion, after the deconstruction of Western ontology. The present paper signals the fact that the reductionist vision of the religion of the times to come, as undertaking of the law of love and of its charitable consequences risks to annul the religious character of love. A faith that programmatically undertakes charity in the absence of a metaphysic God is at most conviction. The rational-discursive approach mines the logic of religious faith. The restoring dimension of hermeneutics is more involved in the future of religion than its reductionist dimension.
