Abstract

The study has been done on 39 adult bodies conserved in 8% formaldehyde solution, through dissection and macroscopic observation in the anatomy laboratories of the Medicine Faculty of Brasov, as well as on patients that have been examined imagisticaly for vascular pathology of the upper member at the Rapid Diagnostic Polyclinic Brasov. The imagistic examination was realized through ultrasonography, including Doppler, as well as Computer Tomography with contrast solution injected, with 2D and 3D reconstructions. A big amount of the subjects from the general population present anatomic variations regarding the origin and distribution of the upper limb arterial vascular tree. The left-right asymmetry of the vessels that irrigate the upper limb has been encountered in a small number of cases, mostly the variation being present in only one of the members. The most frequent anatomic variation has been the high bifurcation of the brachial artery. The anatomic variations presented have been more frequent on males than females.
