Abstract

Heredity plays an important role in varicose veins disease. The weak wall theory with secondary valvular incompetence has been proposed as the most likely cause of primary varicose vein disease. Ultrastructural wall changes in varicose veins have been deeply studied. We present a case of varicose vein recurrence in which we have been searching for histological changes using light and electron microscopy in comparison with those found in primary varicose vein disease.
