Abstract

The impact of hypothyroidism on pregnancy leads to an increased frequency of obstetric maternal and fetal complications. The universal screening for the detection of hypothyroidism in pregnancy remains a controversial topic. This article presents the current issues of hypothyroidism in pregnancy, and certain aspects of diagnosis, treatment, monitoring, and screening.
