Abstract

The beginning of surgical learning in Romania started in the 13th century, but even if surgery and medicine are mutually dependent, some historians think that surgery may be the oldest of all medical activities. But, like in the entire world, surgery wasn’t a medical discipline, and the surgeons weren’t prepared in medical school. That’s why knowing and understanding the birth of surgery as a medical discipline for studies is interesting, including in Romania.
