Abstract

MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) strains are a continuing and increasing problem in many hospitals. This retrospective study has included 1162 staphylococcal strains, isolated in the County Clinical Emergency Hospital of Braşov, from pathological products prelevated from patients hospitalized in this medical unit in 2005. Staphylococcus aureus had the most important role in the production of staphylococcal infections (65 %). The percentage of MRSA (74.6 %of the isolated S. aureus strains) was very high. MRSA was isolated the most frequently from wound secretions (55.3 %).
