MDF is a high grade, composite material and it is made from recycled wood fibers and resin, and it is less expensive This composite material is dried and pressed to produce dense, stable sheets and because of this process, MDF does not warp or crack like wood. And since MDF is made from small particles, it doesn’t have noticeable grain patterns, showed by electronic microscopy. This will result in a smoother finish for the industrial product. In general, wood contracts or expands when it is exposed to changing heat and humidity and can appear some cracks on the industrial products. In this paper were realized water absorption tests on the MDF samples, in function of different temperature and humidity levels. The water absorption content for each piece of MDF composite material is represented as a percentage of the weight of the water and oven-dry weight. The humidity absorption depends on the composite material type, their structure, and it depends on the environment in which the product is used. The quality and moisture resistance of a composite material is extremely important for the durability and degradation degree of an industrial product. D.I. Baila, R. Labudzki, I. Fodchuk, M. Series I - Engineering Sciences https://webbut.unitbv.ro/index.php/Series_I/article/view/8541 Mon, 25 Nov 2024 00:00:00 +0000 Multi-Criteria Analysis of Plastering Mortars with Concrete and Brick Waste Based on Physical-Mechanical Characteristics and Lifecycle Impact Assessment Criteria https://webbut.unitbv.ro/index.php/Series_I/article/view/8540 Plastering mortars with construction and demolition waste (CDW) contents is considered a potential path to lowering the environmental damage caused by CDW. This paper presents an application of a multi-criteria decision-making analysis matrix based on physical-mechanical characteristics as well as life cycle assessment (LCA) criteria, from cradle to gate. Six new plastering mortars with concrete and brick CDW components, created for this study, were analyzed. The conclusion is that the mortar with 30% replacement of natural aggregates with concrete waste was the best overall performing mortar, followed by the mortars with 15% replacement with brick waste and 30% replacement with brick waste. Agriculture can largely benefit from the Earth Observation data freely available from the Sentinel 2 satellites within the context of the Copernicus program. The validation and correlation of satellite measurements with the in-situ measured data are extremely important for the correct exploitation of the remote sensing data. One way to foster satellite and in-situ data is to use Artificial Intelligence models and tools for extracting useful information for farmers and landowners. In this article, we identify the current needs in the agricultural domain as well as various aspects where innovation can occur in the data processing chain.
