Abstract

The efficiency of the photothermal solar energy conversion is strongly influenced by the absorber’s quality. The spectrally solar selective should absorb maximum solar radiation and the obtained thermal energy should be transferred with minimum heat re-radiation losses. These properties can be optimised by tailoring the surface properties. The paper presents the most important categories of the selective coatings used for solar thermal applications and their specific characterising methods.
