Abstract

The usage of alternative fuels in internal combustion engines can generally reduce harmful pollutants and exhaust emissions, improving the air quality. Alternative fuels in use today includes: ethanol, methanol, biodiesel, natural gas, propane, electricity and hydrogen. The alternative fuels represent a range of cleaner fuels on the market that can offer important environmental benefits and lower fuel costs comparative to fossil fuels.
