The Mechanical Power Loss of the Diesel Engines

Abstract

This paper is based on an experimental method regarding the determination of the engine power loss required for calculation of mechanical efficiency using the motoring method. For two diesel engines manufactured by Roman Truck company, D 2156 MTN 8R and 798-05 they were performed specific loss tests on the engine dynamometric test-bench, in order to find out how close experimental power loss and mechanical efficiency are corresponding to literature values.
