Abstract

Within the building sector solar cooling systems could offer economic alternatives to air conditioning. Such a system has been evaluated for moderate climatic conditions such as those existing in Brasov, Romania. The unbalanced heating and cooling loads require a backup system and supplementary investments. The high initial cost of such absorption systems is a serious obstacle for a large-scale implementation and technical solutions have to be found for less expensive systems.
