Abstract

The paper analyzes, in brief, various online condition-monitoring techniques for rotating electrical machines. The different failure mechanisms of electrical machines and several monitoring techniques are analyzed. The advantages, disadvantages, and reliability of each technique are underlined. A few of the current state-of-the-art techniques are reviewed by surveying the latest developments in mechanical and electrical condition monitoring and future research areas that could offer new opportunities for efficient condition monitoring are identified.
