Abstract

This paper attempts to present some aspects regarding how to use a multi-body systems software solution in the optimization process of mechanical systems. The optimization of a mechanical system has to pass true the following steps: parameterizing the virtual model, defining the design variables and the design objectives for optimization, performing design studies to identify the main design variables, and optimizing the model on the basis of these variables. To implement the optimization algorithm, the front suspension mechanism for a Formula Student car has been taken into account, using the multi-body system (MBS) environment ADAMS of MSC Software.
