Abstract

Enhancing the controllability of small wind turbines (WT) to support the frequency in microgrids (MG) requires different solutions than for high-power WT. This paper presents a sensorless control method for small fixed-pitch WT, which includes, besides the primary function of WT optimal control, a power curtailment technique that aims to improve MG stability during adverse operating conditions. Simulation results are presented to validate the proposed method.
