Abstract

The electrical machines' design takes place a major role in energy conversion systems. In this paper, a procedure for optimization of the rectangular slot area of the stator has been developed. By a proper analytic approach, it has been founded that slot area may be expressed as a function of specific Joule losses. According to this work, economic criteria for total cost or consumption have been also developed. Numerical simulations performed in Matlab software for a case study confirm our theoretical approach.
