Abstract

Diamond-like carbon (DLC) deposition in thin films has been known in the past decades as a large development. There is a wide range of specific technologies of DLC thin film deposition based on PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) and CVD (Chemical Vapour Deposition) methods. Real processes may be different depending on the desired result. DLC thin coatings have various applications in microelectronics, aeronautics, the automotive industry, medical technology, fine mechanics, etc. This paper makes review of the mechanical and tribological properties of DLC coating obtained through different technologies.
