Abstract

In this paper, the way how the working principle of pressure wave compressor influences the temperature field of intake air is presented. The research on a supercharged Diesel engine with successive configurations, one with turbocharger and another with pressure wave compressor, showed that there are different temperature fields of the intake air at the exit of the two supercharging compressors. The paper also presents the causes for this increase in temperature for each of the two compressors, these causes being very different from one compressor to other.
