Sensors study in STEM education

Abstract

Through STEM education the students are involved in the integrated study of science, technology, engineering and mathematics, being encouraged to find effective robotics solutions to real-life problems. Using the colour, gyro and ultrasonic sensors of the Lego Mindstorms Education EV3 package, suggestive applications, collection, analysis and data manipulation can be performed. With the support of the colour sensor, measurements and interpretation of data related to colour and light intensity were carried out. The ultrasonic sensor has enhanced a practical study on the modality in which the sound is reflected on different surfaces. Through the graphical programming environment, a robot can collect data using sensors.
