Abstract

The paper deals with the design of noncircular gears whose output motion is a piecewise of several continuously variable motions. In order to achieve the desired gear kinematics, multiple parameters are used to define the transmission ratio sub-functions. The AutoCAD/ AutoLISP applications are used to perform the calculus and graphics. The database enables to design and generate a noncircular gear train that would modify the kinematics of the crank-slider mechanism from a nail machine, in order to improve the nail head forming phase.
