Study Regarding the Solar Trackers Used for Photovoltaic Modules

Abstract

This study proposes a study on the sun-tracking mechanisms used for increasing the energy efficiency of photovoltaic panels, through the automatic optimal positioning of the PV panel in accordance with the sun's path. The study is segmented into two parts, as follows: for beginning, a general systematization of the mechatronic solar trackers is performed from the point of view of the two main components - the mechanical device, and the control device; then, a case study is developed for a dual-axis azimuthal tracking mechanism with the aim to establish the optimal combination between the control scheme and the type of controller.
