Abstract

The paper presents some considerations regarding the evolution of the telecommunication networks towards the Integrated Broadband Communication Network (IBCN), also called Broadband Integrated Services Digital Network (BISDN). The word broadband covers the more than 2Mbits/s access flows of the subscribers. Some methods of using telecommunication networks, initially dedicated to unidirectional services, towards delivering duplex services, are discussed.
