Abstract

The theory of electromagnetic shielding is based on the wave equations describing the behavior of the electromagnetic field in a substance and also boundary phenomena by means of Fresnel’s reflection and transmission coefficients. Many models have been issued, but lately the Schelkunoff model has been accepted. The paper deals with the analysis of the incongruities included in this model, mainly limitations of the theory. These things are important because many experimental methods for determining shielding effectiveness are based on this model.
