Abstract

This paper presents a comparative study of the transport of Na +, K +, and Cl ions through some membrane structures. The influence of alcohol on the membrane transport of these ions through the two types of structures was studied. The experimental measurements were accomplished using physical methods of conductivity, potentiometry, and flame photometry. As a result of this study, it was noticed that the artificial membranes used are much more permeable compared with the much more complex biological membranes.
